After breakfast at your Riad, you will meet your driver/guide to begin your 3-day journey to the Sahara Desert. Head toward Ouarzazate by crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 meters). These stunning mountains offer dramatic landscapes, panoramic views of traditional villages, and terraced fields. After a photo stop, take a scenic off-road trail leading to Telouet Village to explore the Glaoui Kasbah, followed by a visit to Aït Benhaddou—a UNESCO World Heritage-listed fortified village.
After lunch, continue to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gateway to the Sahara.” Here, you may opt to visit the famous film studios (entry fees not included). The Ouarzazate region is home to Berber communities who have adapted to its harsh climate. Next, explore Taourirt Kasbah, another UNESCO site and a stunning example of traditional Moroccan architecture.
Later, drive toward the Dades Gorges, passing through the palm-filled Skoura Valley and its ancient kasbahs. Enjoy a final photo stop in the fragrant Valley of the Roses (famous for its rose harvests) before arriving at the Dades Gorges. Dinner, breakfast, and overnight stay will be at a local guesthouse or hotel.
After breakfast at your accommodation, you can take an early morning walk to stretch your legs in the Dades Gorges before driving through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs towards the Todra Gorges, where you’ll enjoy a pleasant walk between its towering canyon walls that rise over 200 meters high. After a guided walk through the Todra palm grove, we’ll continue our journey towards the desert, crossing the Tafilalet palm grove.
Upon arrival at the hotel at the foot of the Erg Chebbi dunes, relax and take in the breathtaking scenery while sipping a welcome glass of mint tea as you wait for your camel. Then, you’ll begin a new caravan trek accompanied by an experienced camel guide. After about an hour and a half of camel ride through the sandy dunes into the heart of the desert, you’ll witness the magnificent sunset.
Surrounded by the great dunes, you’ll enjoy the rhythm of traditional drum music, a Moroccan dinner, and mint tea. Under the vast starry sky, you’ll spend the night in authentic nomadic tents.
Wake up early to witness a stunning sunrise like no other. After a one-and-a-half-hour camel ride, you’ll return to your hotel in Merzouga for a refreshing shower and breakfast. Then, we’ll head toward Marrakech, crossing the palm groves of the Tafilalet region, where we’ll make a short stop to explore the 7th-century markets, before continuing along the scenic road through the Anti-Atlas Mountains and the Draa Valley.
We’ll stop for lunch in Ouarzazate, then continue our journey through the High Atlas Mountains and the Tichka Pass (2,260 m) before arriving in Marrakech in the afternoon.
End of the tour.
